Fair point. It's been a long day. On October 29, 2025 8:27:46 PM EDT, David Eddleman via Outages-discussion <outages-discussion@outages.org> wrote:
For clarification, OP was asking about times to the main outages list, which is what I based my answer off of.
Looking at the response times for -discussion doesn't aid in that. -discussion tends to go faster. Not sure why, maybe different server, maybe different routing, who knows, I'm not privy to that. Thousand and one factors that play into email delivery.

For the record, the Date header on this message is the 4:23:08EDT you see below.
The From_ header on my Zimbra mail server was ... 4:23:55EDT.
Take that for what it's worth, but the first is *supposed* to be applied by the source mailer when you hit Send. I'm sending this at 8:24:41 ish EDT. -- jrA

1-2 hours has been typical for me.

Hey everyone,
What are people seeing as normal delivery times for messages to the main outages list? I’m regularly getting messages delivered to me up to over an hour after they’ve been sent, which kind of reduces the utility of the list as a notification service that something is up.
Just as an example today, the first message from Nick that was sent at 11:27am Central did not hit our email servers until 12:53pm Central. Rob’s reply that was sent at 12:35pm did not get here until 1:29pm.
Is this expected, or might something else be going on? Maybe it’s just me? Happy to provide headers and whatnot to the admins if it will help.
Thanks!
