The OSPE reports that the subway administrator has reported that an investigation will take place so they can attempt to identify the root cause of the fire. As such, access is not expected to be granted for repair personnel until daytime hours of June 08, 2018. The Transport NOC has confirmed that they are still working with the Tier III Technical Support Team and Field Operations to explore any and all possible re-route options to expedite service restoration. Updates will continue to be provided as new information becomes available.

Once the scene is released by the fire department, the New York City Subway system will begin cleaning the area from an environmental standpoint before other utility providers will be granted access to begin repairs. An ETA for when access will be granted is currently unavailable.
06/07/2018 20:36:17 GMT - 06/07/2018 19:52:07 GMT - The Transport NOC reports that Field Operations arrived on site and have identified that construction work outside of a gateway location has caught fire, and several lateral fibers have been damaged by the fire. The New York City Fire Department is on scene working to put the fire out and make the area safe for onsite personnel. The Outside Plant Engineer (OSPE) has been engaged and is working to develop a repair plan while personnel wait for the site to be deemed safe. Updates will continue to be relayed as new information becomes available.
06/07/2018 19:01:15 GMT - The Transport NOC reports that a suspected fiber cut in New York City, NY is impacting unprotected services. Field Operations are being engaged to assist with onsite investigations. An ETA is currently unavailable.
