As far as we know, it was a single flooded CO on Choctaw that is responsible. We have heard zero information from AT&T as to what the cause is or the ETR. They simply state 'we have technicians staged and are working on it'. They brought in cell towers on wheels into Baton Rouge but couldn't reach Livingston because the roads were flooded. The roads have been opened for about 16.5 hours now and service is still down. A little more transparency by AT&T would go a long way. Sounds like the local CO and a wireless site or two is/was under water. That seems forgivable.
What isn’t is one CO taking out multiple states. That’s the same Katrina failure; “Bell” Main in NO failed, taking down SS7 for the LATA. Sounds like the re-engineering moved that same single point of failure to another CO and included a few other LATAs in the process.

Day 3 and still no phone AT&T service (landline (copper) or cell) at my in-laws in Denham just south of I12 at Juban. My Verizon phone could receive calls but not make calls last night about 10pm CDT there. I could send and receive texts, and data worked.
We've seen no ETR provided by AT&T for that area.

Shame on AT&T for committing to have learned their lesson from Katrina for having single points of failure bringing down their entire network.
It's that exact reason that I still maintain alternate providers and modes of communications.
Wireless still isn't a mission-critical service no matter what anyone says.

Governor JBE is reporting it is due to a flooded switch location on Choctaw in BR. ATT is reportedly bringing in equipment from 'out of state' to attempt to restore service.
If your friends have internet, they should be able to access Google Voice, Skype, WiFi calling, etc.
Good luck out there.

I am seeing 50% or greater packet loss across wireline (DSL/broadband) services and AT&T wireless services across multiple circuits in TX, NE, OH, and IL.
Are others seeing any similar behavior? I am seeing reports across hundreds of locations. Thanks!
