My home FIOS is up but one of our FTR Fiber links is down at the DC. No ALARM on the interface. So when you call or go to the WebSiste you get to talk to a bot Their AI Support Chatbot indicates its a 'known' issue and they were working on it. Interestingly a couple customers are reporting phone issues on their frontier VOIP service. Not sure if that is related. Sincerely, William Kern PixelGate Network

This link was restored last night around 9 pm and they closed the ticked a few hours later. Evidently a fiber cut due to some idiot(s) looking for copper. Tech said they had to do 3 splices. This sort of outage is becoming really common. This is the third one that I have heard of in the last month or so. William Kern PixelGate Network On 8/8/25 9:37 AM, William Kern via Outages wrote:

Hollywood hills AT&T/Spectrum outage recently was the same. Odds are it's the same idiots not learning or deliberately just trashing fiber.

Alas, there are many dedicated conspiracy theorists fighting “the machine“ because they fear 5G, WiFi radiation, weather control, or any of a number of other imagined ills. I recall the incident in Los Angeles, where 5G installers had to leave the site because of protesters, who then tried to burn down the pole. The protesters later attributed the burn marks to directed energy weapons. You cannot make this stuff up. Where there’s a will, there’s a whacko. -mel
