Comcast Routing Issues - Connecticut
Anyone else seeing issues with traffic routing from Comcast Business customers in Connecticut? We see that ~50% of RTP flows experience 100% packet loss while the other 50% of flows result in no packet loss. The issue is certainly in the direction of traffic sent from Comcast Business Customers towards the internet but may also be in the reverse direction as well. The MTRs below show the path *towards *the affected Comcast Business customers. Note all are hung off of Newark -> Hartford. Hi John, Here's what we've noticed across our customer base. * We first started getting reports of the problem yesterday 9/10 at ~9 AM ET * The problem seems to be focused on Connecticut in/around Hartford * The problem seems to be flow related. A flow (RTP which is a UDP RTP towards a static destination ip & port) that is sent from Comcast Business customer to our cloud has 100% packet loss. Then, a new call is generated creating a new flow and that flow will have 0% packet loss. The issue seems to be affecting ~50% of "flows". We've got P1 ticket INC008691463 opened w/ Comcast Business on a Comcast circuit we have. Happy to work more closely together on this if helpful. Multiple school districts in CT have been complaining of Comcast issues since yesterday. Appears to be manifesting for VPN connections to remote sites; I'm guessing several use CEN (the statewide fiber network) for primary and Comcast at some auxiliaries. Seem to be getting the run-around; nobody has gotten a solid answer back. Not personally affected, but happen to be on both lists. Will let them know others are observing issues here and that it may be flow-related. Can provide contact for CEN engineering (who are keeping tabs on it) off-list if desired. Jason

I just posted this to the message board. Not really technical, but another data point. I am a Comcast residential customer in the Danbury, CT area. I have cron jobs that run every fifteen minutes, syncing local data with a remote storage area. Usually it works quite reliably, no problems at all. But for the past couple of days there has been about a 30% failure rate from the scp (secure copy) command.
Was just on a trouble call in Middletown CT, an emissions testing computer was running slow, and the shop’s voip calls were dropping. Put the machine on T-Mobile and it was fine. CT emissions stated other shops on Comcast have been having issues throughout the state. Definitely a routing issue with Comcast.

Was just on a trouble call earlier in Middletown CT. An emissions testing computer was running slow, and the shop’s voip calls have been dropping. Problems started yesterday, aligning with what others have said. Tested putting the machine on T-Mobile and it was fine. CT emissions support stated other shops on Comcast have been having issues throughout the state. Definitely a routing issue with Comcast of some kind.
