Nation wide t-mobile inbound and outbound

T-Mobile confirms nation wide inbound and outbound call completion issues. May also affect emergency services as call attempts to 611 received immediate disconnect as well as calls to t-mobile numbers or calls originating from t-mobile devices. --Karl

Seems fixed now

It would be very helpful to know which country is involved when outages are 'Nationwide' T-Mobile operate nationwide in quite a few countries https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-Mobile On Wed, 2015-06-24 at 22:00 -0600, Karl Putland via Outages wrote:

I do so love if people from unknown background talk about "nation wide" outages :-) T-Mobile in *this* nation had no issues whatsoever. gert -- USENET is *not* the non-clickable part of WWW! //www.muc.de/~gert/ Gert Doering - Munich, Germany gert@greenie.muc.de fax: +49-89-35655025 gert@net.informatik.tu-muenchen.de

Speaking as an American myself, nationwide means the USA. Because we Americans are all pompous, arrogant and self-righteous there can be no other definition. On this small blue marble upon which we live there is America and not America. And if anybody disagrees with me then I shall go get my gun and my confederate flag. Disclaimer: I hope nobody takes the above seriously. However it is kind of a sorry state of affairs that many Americans actually do think this way. but not all of us. ————————— Best regards, Michael Self This email composed on my iPhone 7 while driving with my knees. Not much one can do about that :-)... I suppose one would say that since the outages list is part of the NANOG umbrella, one could infer that nationwide means the U.S. However, the "NA" in NANOG is North America... Canada and all, so... Mark.

The outages list is hosted by me at puck.nether.net on behalf and at the request of Virendra Rode fyi. BTW, not all americans are like this either: http://www.finlandforthought.net/wp-content/simpsons_shock.jpg - Jared

I am duly corrected. "NANOG Outages" was a common statement back then, but www.outages.org is clearly a separate thing. So yeah - "nationwide" becomes even dodgier :-). But I can still see why. Mark.

So the outage was in fact the US? Josh Luthman Office: 937-552-2340 Direct: 937-552-2343 1100 Wayne St Suite 1337 Troy, OH 45373 On Jun 25, 2015 8:07 AM, "Mark Tinka via Outages" <outages@outages.org> wrote:

Knee-jerk reaction would be "yes". But not necessarily, if you look at the past... I haven't been on outages long; just since June 2014. As far as I can recall, there have been limited threads on outages outside the U.S. in that time period. Someone did once forward a BT outage, but that was taken off the UKNOF list and posted here. There was also something about a Facebook outage in South East Asia, a DSL service outage in Toronto, Level(3) issues in Europe, an AAG outage between Hong Kong and Vietnam, Google DNS issues in South East Asia, a SMW-3 cut, and an EasyNet outage in the UK. So yes, the majority of reports tend to be U.S.-centric, but there is probably a reason for that. Mark.

Yes. U.S. No offense intended. Lasted about 3 hours. -Karl On Jun 25, 2015 6:09 AM, "Josh Luthman via Outages" <outages@outages.org> wrote:

And while I’m sure the point is now clear that we should all include detailed information when reporting an outage here, let’s not scare anyone away. I don’t use T-Mobile, but if I did, I’d want to know that for X hours any pages from devices I manage would not be reaching my phone. Arguably outages like this are more important to know about than many IP network outages. Charles

t-mobile outage could very well have been U.S. impacting but this list is not U.S. centric nor falls under NANOG umbrella. Thanks Jared and Woody for holding the fort Our primary focus here at Outages tends to be Critical Internet Infrastructure. For years many have argued “what constitutes critical infrastructure”. A single clear cut definition has yet to be devised. Can we please take this thread to discussion list and fight it out there and leave outages@ chatter free please 73, /virendra
