[slightly OT] Verizon Business repairs slowdown???

We're having real trouble getting Verizon Business to pick up routine T1 outage tickets and actually work them, and the general temperature of the techs is frosty. We've now heard rumors of massive (5 figures) layoffs coming down the pike from 2 sources, but nothing firm. Anybody know if they've got a formal work slowdown going on and / or any forecasts as to where this is going? -- Jon Radel Sr. Director of Engineering VANTAGE COMMUNICATIONS

I've been waiting 11 months for a lit building fiber to be provisioned, so it seems that would be business as usual. ~Seth

Perhaps unrelated, perhaps not, the following email was just received from our Verizon salesperson: "I will be out of the office starting 03/15/2010 and will not return until 12/31/2010. Please refer all your future emails to: wholesaleinquiry@verizon.com or call 877-288-6453" kind regards/ldv

I can't substantiate this with anything written, but I have had several Verizon Biz techs tell me about "big changes" coming. And I know there were high-level meetings around the holidays. I'm surprised we haven't heard anything yet. -MB
