Internet outages in TN/KY/VA/GA areas

Hello everyone, Are there any transport or backbone issues that you're aware of in the southeast? We're getting multiple reports from branch locations spread across multiple states that they are having internet outages, but there are multiple carriers involved. Thanks! -- Rob Hall, CCNP R&S, CCP-V, CCA-N I.T. Manager @Work Personnel 1040 Tidewater Court Kingsport, TN 37660 Office: (423)272-7897, x10113 Mobile: (423)312-6003 [cisco-certified-ccnp][CCP-V]

We’ve seen some reoccurring blips in Indiana / Kentucky / Tennessee remote sites - primarily from our sites that use Windstream for DIA. -- regards om Sent from my iPhone On Dec 19, 2018, at 15:36, Aubrey Wells via Outages <outages@outages.org<mailto:outages@outages.org>> wrote: Yeah - ~15 minute blip on Windstream DIA in Atlanta. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Aubrey Wells Packethead Consulting, LLC Helping you get your bits together since 0x7DE On Wed, Dec 19, 2018 at 3:28 PM Rob Hall via Outages <outages@outages.org<mailto:outages@outages.org>> wrote: Hello everyone, Are there any transport or backbone issues that you’re aware of in the southeast? Cincinnati - Just has a few minutes of intermittent connectivity issues about 30 minutes ago. Connected to CenturyLink/Level3, Spectrum, and Cincinnati Bell. Have not dug into it.

We have an office in Pittsburgh that has lost its BGP peer with CenturyLink. The link is up ok, but no peer. Hi all, when you are seeing/reporting these things, it’s helpful for IT so thank you. But what if I want to show/explain to customers who are or might be effected. Is there a dashboard I can share to end users? Anthony On Wed, Dec 19, 2018 at 3:54 PM Andrew MacGregor via Outages < outages@outages.org> wrote:

Yes and no? It's hard to get visual maps because there's no real centralized place where it's reported and providers have considerable amounts of variation on when an outage is an outage that's reported. Something like downdetector.com might be the closest, but it's not really accurate. Many providers have RSS feeds to their health/status pages, but again they may not post "outage" for hours after issues are seen at the endpoint. You can also run traceroutes and other ping/monitoring from your end, and screenshot to a client-- but YMMV. On Wed, Dec 19, 2018 at 4:06 PM Anthony Oren via Outages < outages@outages.org> wrote:

I know there are issues with AT&T Fiber in Western Indiana, that might contribute to some of it. It has taken them all day to admit there is a problem with their fiber, we have been down all day as a result.
