And more: We at <redacted> have made several calls to our resources at Centurylink and this is currently a national outage that is affecting all 800 #'s provided by Centurylink. They are unaware what the issue is but they are currently investigating the problem. As of right now, Centurylink does not have an ETA on when this will be resolved. I will update you as often as I receive updates from Centurylink. Sooooo... While we're all waiting.. Anyone have some research references on toll free outage mitigation or 'carrier redundancy"? My experience is the carrier is the single point of failure and you are absolutely 100% reliant on them. Ways to mitigate that? Whenever asked (and I just was), I say out hands are tied. I think that's true. Agree? We have the ability to redirect CenturyLink calls from our dedicated trunks to any other carrier. That said, I don't know that it will help us here if they've bitched routing. We are able to make outbound calls on our trunks but can't even loop back to ourselves in the same trunks so I suspect it's useless. For toll free if you are a resporg you can say how your calls should be routed. If Level3 has an issue you can simply remove them from routing and you should be good. Regular numbers are locked to a specific carrier. Vonage is working with the FCC to change that. They want regular DID's to work the same and I believe they have a range that is going to (if not already) routed that way.
