mail.live.com doesn't resolve to anything. Hotmail Affected

Seems to be fairly widespread. outlook.com is also not resolving. Both get as far as glb{1,2}.glbdns.microsoft.com which successfully returns an SOA for the domains, but nothing more. Scott On Thu, Sep 8, 2011 at 8:15 PM, Cliff Dike <cliff@getbluefrog.com> wrote:

We can confirm this outage, and yes it appears to be solely DNS-based. It's affecting critical services such as Microsoft's VirtualEarth as well as MSN Money. -- | Jeremy Chadwick jdc at parodius.com | | Parodius Networking http://www.parodius.com/ | | UNIX Systems Administrator Mountain View, CA, US | | Making life hard for others since 1977. I want to make it clear to folks: the power outages are specific to San Diego and some (limited) surrounding counties. The Bay Area / Silicon Valley region, as well as "true" northern California, has not seen any effects. The power issue in southern California is limited to that region. Again, as for geographic location or technical details with regards to the Microsoft DNS issue, I am not able to comment. -- | Jeremy Chadwick jdc at parodius.com | | Parodius Networking http://www.parodius.com/ | | UNIX Systems Administrator Mountain View, CA, US | | Making life hard for others since 1977. Hey, We've been on the phone to Microsoft a few times today. They've admitted that it's taken out a large part of their global infrastructure. We had major issues with a POC for Office365 (onmicrosoft.com) along with their other hosting. Most of it seemed to be back online around 5AM GMT. -Blake On 9/09/11 6:02 PM, "Jeremy Chadwick" <outages@jdc.parodius.com> wrote:

Does not appear to have impact on mail.global.frontbridge.com IE BPOS and office365 which serve dns off bigfish/msft.net servers. On Sep 8, 2011, at 10:18 PM, Scott Howard <scott@doc.net.au> wrote:
