Verizon SMS gateway (vtext.com) problems?

About an hour ago (17:45 UTC) was the last time we were able to route a SMS text message through Verizon's gateway vtext.com. The vtext.com site and servers seem to be up, but attemptes to deliver text messages via number(a)vtext.com, using http://vtext.com, or TAP modem delivery all silently fail, and are never delivered. (Messages from phone to phone work fine.)

BT Broadband outage effects thousands.

TWC issues in NY

Time Warner Cable has confirmed some kind of routing issues in NY. Not sure what problem is yet. We seem to have problems specifically from customers in Frontier territory trying to access our resources at ASN20208 / 204.8.80.0/22, however, issues do not seem to be limited to routing with Frontier. -- Adam Greene Webjogger Internet Services (845) 757-4000

Cablevision's LightPath has major outage

One of my branch offices in Hackettstown, NJ (north NJ near PA) uses a small ISP that gets their feed from Cablevision's Lightpath. He's told me that Lightpath has reported multiple fiber rings down, and theyre dealing with a significant systemwide outage. We first got report of the outage at 1:17PM Eastern Daylight Time. AT&T wireless outage in Southern California?

Is anyone experiencing an AT&T wireless outage in Southern California? Possibly only with 3G phones. I am experiencing a complete lack of usable service (though phone shows full signal strength) in one particular neighborhood of San Diego. If I drive a few miles away, it works fine. However when I called AT&T, they told me it was an issue effecting all of Southern California, so I wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing it. The ticket number I was given for the whole socal issue is 13628506. Dan

As this impacted all Wikipedia and other projects access from European users, we were forced to move all user traffic to our Florida cluster, for which we have a standard quick failover procedure in place, that changes our DNS entries. However, shortly after we did this failover switch, it turned out that this failover mechanism was now broken, causing the DNS resolution of Wikimedia sites to stop working globally. This problem was quickly resolved, but unfortunately it may take up to an hour before access is restored for everyone, due to caching effects. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. Update: Unfortunately, for many, this outage seems to have lasted longer than an hour. It appears that many ISPs’ DNS resolvers do not honor the so-called Negative Cache TTL that we send (1 hour), and instead use a longer value.
