Anybody seeing issues in Toronto, ? downtime websites are saying there are issues there with rogers, bell.. but is there a bigger issue that anyone is aware of ? thanks

YouTube to force 2FA for monetized accounts next month - Gmail

Or something very close to that. https://9to5google.com/2021/08/24/youtube-2-step-verification-requirement Directly, that's not necessarily a big thing, but if you have a gmail account associated with the YT account -- as they forced some years back -- and you've forgotten about that, devices may not be able to send or receive email through that account anymore either, and it's not clear whether you can turn 2FA back off for such accounts, or de-associate them from the YT account. I know this will break things as I had a client turn on 2FA for an account a few months back, and their copier stopped being able to mail scans to people. A low-impact problem... unless you have it. GPSd bug may cause auth failures next week (10/24/2021)

A bug in the GPS Week Rollover code of GPSd, which apparently isn't quite as tight as ESR thinks it is, may cause GPD steered clocks and infrastructre to report incorrect date-data starting on or about 10-24-2021 (presumably) UTC, and this may bubble up into authentication and security protocols (including SSL) since they tend to depend on everyone having the same clock these days. Write a post it note with that date on top, and put it on your cubicle wall, so that if things get hincky that day, you remember why. It’s worth noting as well that this affects openssl 1.0.1 even if they have the new root cert. So curl on Debian 8, Debian 9, OSX 10.14.6 etc. will report SSL certificate expired. Browsers there will work, but APIs might fail. SSL rollover - Let's Encrypt etc

I meant to post this when it happened, and I think I forgot. :-} The SSL Root cert that underlies Let's Encrypt's root expired on 30-Sept, and the new root that underlies it is not in the Root Certificate Package of some still pretty widely deployed OS versions, including OS/X <10.12.1. Lots of people are getting their certs from Let's these days, including Wikipedia. So if you've gotten any reports from the field that people can't access {websites,your websites} it's worth looking into whether this is why. Loss of routes via Telia

About 30 minutes ago, I lost most of my routes via Telia in Ashburn. I'm down to 81k on full transit. Opened a ticket but can't get ahold of the NOC. Anyone else seeing this? My NTT and GTT circuits are getting a spike of BGP updates currently so something seems to be happening.
